Before You Say Yes
We hear it all the time. Someone makes a choice for themselves and suddenly theyâre being âselfish.â But choosing yourself doesnât always have to be some big decision or dramatic announcement. Sometimes, it simply begins with giving yourself a moment to pause.
What if you give yourself permission not to answer right away?
As we move toward a season which quite oftenn includes more invitations, expectations, and requests, notice how quickly you automatically say yes.
Before responding, pause.
You can simply say, âLet me check and get back to you.â
That one sentence creates space between the request and your response. This pause you an opportunity to notice what you actually want, what you have the capacity for, and whether your answer is coming from desire, obligation, guilt, or fear of disappointing someone.
You may still decide to say yes. Choosing yourself doesnât mean always saying no. It means allowing yourself the time and space to decide what works best for you.
If you choose to say no, notice whether you feel obligated to explain or justify your decision. As much as we may think everyone in our life needs a play-by-play of how we arrive at our decisions, they just donât. Youâre allowed to share as much or as little of your reasoning as you choose.
Where could you give yourself a little more time before answering this week?
Hit reply and share it with me. Iâd love to hear what comes up for you.

What If Weekly
What if the answers are found within the energy I allow into my life?
We all bring energy into our days, conversations, and relationships, and that energy can shift from one moment to the next.
Youâve probably encountered someone I lovingly call an âenergy vampire.â đ You leave an interaction with them feeling depleted, heavy, tense, or completely drained.
There are times when we can step away or limit how much time we spend with someone. Other times, that person may be a coworker, family member, or someone we canât easily avoid.
You donât have to take responsibility for changing the energy of the entire room. You can begin by noticing what happens within you.
Imagine youâre talking with a coworker and the conversation becomes an ongoing exchange about how awful everything is. What do you notice in your body? Do you feel heavy, constricted, tense, or pulled further into the frustration?
Then ask yourself what you have the ability to shift. Could you possibly redirect the conversation, contribute something different, limit how long you engage, or give yourself a few minutes afterward to reset?
This isnât about avoiding every uncomfortable interaction or labeling certain energy as bad. Itâs about becoming more intentional about what you participate in and how much access you allow it to have to your energy.
What energy would you like to allow more of in your life, and what might you be ready to give a little less access to?
Whatâs Unfolding...
Remembering Who You Are
So much of our time goes toward our responsibilities and the people in our lives. Iâd love for you to spend a little of that time with yourself.
Remembering Who You Are is a free 75-minute live workshop where weâll pause, look back across different seasons of your life, and notice the beliefs and expectations that may be influencing how you see yourself today.
This isnât about becoming someone new. Itâs an opportunity to reconnect with who you are, recognize what you may not have given yourself credit for, and remember that you get to be the authority in your own life.
Join me live on Wednesday, November 11 at 11:00 a.m. Pacific | 2:00 p.m. Eastern.
